Saving Daylight
My heads a hallway
Lit by a single exit sign.
The red light is numbing.
Behind it is nothing.
She brings me pieces of daylight
I save them in ink lest I forget.
Her hands on my neck feel like last year,
But I couldnt ask her to stay here.
Shine a light through the holes in my face
To a place too deep for the seasons.
Underneath the fossils and the rusted guns
Theres a picture...
Gonna convert this sadness to sound
And cling to the affirmative and if
The syllables dont fit
Ill fucking add another expletive and if
I had one wish
I know exactly how Id use it
Does that make me better off than those who are clueless as to
Why they feel so goddamn underwater all the time?
Karma you got the wrong guy quantify my term name my crime
Im just a child with a good heart and a hideous smile
Waiting for someone, to offer me another trial
Shine a light through the holes in my face
To a place too deep for the seasons.
Underneath the fossils and the rusted guns
Theres a picture of me from when nothing mattered,
At least nothing bigger than whales or dinosaurs,
Picture of me, Im seven and smiling I studied a map
Now I know everything
Just tell me this is not my fault.
